Welcome to episode 039 of Mud Stories!

Podcast: Play in new window | Download

Mud Stories is a podcast dedicated to bringing you inspiration in your muddiest moments, hope to make it through your mud, and encouragement for you to know, you are not alone.

Today I’m talking with Caryn Christensen, writer, music teacher, and mother to two girls. Caryn  describes herself as a God-seeker and grace-dweller, and resides in San Diego with her husband.

Caryn believes in the power of our stories and how sharing them with each other helps us overcome and heal from our muddiest places.

And while she realizes her story is sometimes hard to hear, she believes it is full of miraculous grace and awesome redemption, and is a story only God could have written.

In this episode Caryn shares about:

  • Her story of childhood neglect
  • The physical, sexual, and emotional abuse she endured
  • The instability of the adults in her life
  • And her feelings of being not enough and feeling desperately all alone

Caryn and I discuss:

  • The wrestling through the question of: Why? when we are thrown into mud
  • How we don’t feel like God sees us in our pain
  • How we want to just escape from the horrific situations
  • And how God really is working behind the scenes of every detail of our lives, even if we can’t see it at all

Mud Stories 039: God sees us & is working in every detail, but we might not see it when we’re muddy ~@St8oftheheart [Tweet that]

And after you listen, I’d be SO grateful if you’d take the time to give a rating or review over at iTunes, to help others find this podcast. (follow the instructions below) Enjoy!

I want to thank you once again Jacque, for allowing me the honor of sharing my story right here on Mud Stories. Can’t wait to meet up with you on Sunday 🙂

Jacque and Caryn, thank you for sharing this story! I recent found the Mud Stories podcast and listen to them daily while I am driving at work, I am consistently encouraged by each guest, their stories, and their journey in relationship with the Lord. Caryn I praise God for you, as well as your transparency and vulnerability to share your story with the world. I am so sorry that you had to experience so much pain as a child. I can relate to your story in many ways regarding abuse (emotional, physical, & sexual) and the pain you felt, your inability of trusting others, and fear you lived in. I can’t wait to hear the rest of your story and your redemption. I have recently (in the last 3 years) had a new life in Christ, and have found freedom from the shame and guilt, feeling unloved and unwanted throughout my life, and now able to feel unconditional love, freedom, and rest knowing God and realizing that he wants me to have joy, love, and freedom. Thank you both for all that you do to share stories with others that are experiencing pain and showing us that God is SO GOOD.

Amy, I’m so glad you found Mud Stories. Jacque is an amazing host and it has been a joy to be a part of her ministry. It is testimonies such as yours that make telling my story worth every minute of sharing. Jacque and I prayed before we recorded one single word, asking the Lord to minister to those who needed to hear what God has done in my life and that the Holy Spirit would direct our conversation. I too am sorry you’ve experienced emotional, physical and sexual abuse ~ but I am so grateful you are experiencing the freedom from the past that comes in knowing Christ. May He continue to heal and bless you and may He use you to spread the message of hope! Thank you so much for listening 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to listen Anna. Even though our stories differ, we can both testify to the presence and faithfulness of our God every step of the way. Let’s get together over coffee and talk about it! Love you <3
