How to Give Grace With Your Words

by Jacque Watkins

Ephesians 4 29

I walk in the room and I immediately react. I hear his tone the wrong way, assume a meaning he never intended, and respond with words I eventually regret.

This is the mistake I make countless times…

Failing to use my words for good,

Missing the opportunity to give grace to the one who’s listening,

And in the end, producing nothing beneficial from the exchange at all.

So many times we get caught up in a moment … passionate about our opinion and longing to be understood.

And when we perceive we’ve been wronged, we feel compelled to respond…

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth,
but only such a word as is good for edification according
to the need of the moment, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Ephesians 4:29 (NASB)

I’m over at my friend Jennifer’s blog today,  sharing about using our words for good, and giving grace to those who hear them.

It’d be a gift for you to join me there!

Have you ever said words you regretted?

How have you conquered impulsiveness, and given grace gifts with your words?
