When Motherhood is Messy and You Need Some Hope

by Jacque Watkins

Motherhood is Messy but it's our Messes that Make us Mothers

Motherhood is messy and sometimes I wonder if I’m really cut out for the job. My days are unpredictable and often just crazy, taking bends and unexpected turns I would never anticipate at all.

And while it’s true I have some crazy motherhood days as a mama of five, I also experience some hilarious moments if I’m brave enough to just laugh amidst the mess.

Maybe you can relate? Because whether you’re a mom or not, many of your days may be chaotic and messy too!

But as we surrender even our messy days to God, He makes something beautiful from the mess.

Motherhood is messy, but it’s our messes that make us mothers. [Tweet this]

So today, I’m over at Hope for the Weary Mom, sharing a light-hearted video message of hope, from my heart to yours.

May you laugh and know you are not alone!

And my prayer for you today is that on your most messy days, when you need hope, that you would surrender your mess to Him, laugh more than you might have before, and allow your days to be filled with His grace.

Because there is never too much grace in the middle of a mess!

Let’s laugh together today, yes?

What happened on one of your most messy days?

is it possible to love someone you’ve never met and only read their words online? Because I’m pretty sure I love you, jacque! Thank you for your encouragement and your joy and your time to write words every day. You lift up my heart and spirit and my weary mommysoul every day when I read your posts. You point me to God every day and remind me to be filled with his grace and that He’s got my back and that he is transforming me. Thank you so much.

What a special treat and blessing it was to watch your video with today’s message. Of course I knew from your blog what you looked like, but you know how some people don’t or do look like they sound? Well just from your daily messages, I must tell you that you sounded just like I thought you would. And how’s that you ask, well, very softly like an Angel, just like the angel you are. Thank you for your beautiful daily messages…you have helped me in so many ways. And I think you were much too hard on yourself when you told your story. You are a wonderful person and a wonderful “Mama.” I believe God chose this journey for you. He put you through the experience first then you became his disciple. I treasure your messages, and I believe your words are Gods words. He sends His message through you to us. Blessings Jacque, and I love you too!

Oh Gloria…your words are such a blessing to me. I know exactly what you mean about how you think someone may be in real life, and I too have had those who are nothing like I thought they’d be and many who were exactly as I pictured. So fun! Thank you for your encouragement. And I’m giving thanks for how His Sovereign plan has unfolded and leaning hard into Him to follow Him each and every day. May we lock arms and follow Him together! I covet your prayers! With much love…xoxo

Oh man, Jacque, that story takes the cake! I was laughing and cringing at the same time. Your point is so well-taken though – motherhood is so, so messy, but God is right there, right in the middle of it with us … no matter what gets dragged down the hall.
