Broken Pieces Made Whole

by Jacque Watkins

I’ve been broken. And guilty. And hurting. And alone.

I’ve chosen poorly, and walked through the pain of the aftermath.

And the road was steep and high and long. And as my heart’s shattered pieces were scattered and torn…parts sharp with regret and sorrow for sin; It was the surrender of those pieces that began the repair.

The Healer took those pieces and made me new.

He made me clean, and He made me whole.

And because of His GREAT love…

Because He reached down to me, picking up the mess and rescuing me from the darkness of my despair…

Because He is the great initiator…

And because He waits and hopes and rescues…

I am today a woman who has been healed and restored and made whole.

Oh the climb was steep and high and long, but He carried me the whole time.

And as I remember those broken moments, alone and ashamed, I give thanks to Him who made me new and made me whole.

HE who relentlessly pursued me and never let me go.

Psalm 103:1-5,8,10-13,17
Bless the LORD, O my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases;
Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
Who satisfies your years with good things,
The LORD is compassionate and gracious,
Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.
He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.
As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.
But the lovingkindness of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting…

Psalm 30:11-12
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,
That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

May you experience His healing and be made whole in Him, this day, is my prayer.

How has God restored your broken pieces and made you whole?

I’m joining Lisa-Jo, over at her site today, to take five minutes and just write without worrying if it’s just right or not. The challenge is to write for 5 minutes flat with no editing, tweaking or self critiquing, with the prompt she gives. And today, her prompt:

Whole….

    Visiting from 5 Minute Friday! I love your post. I too talked about shattered pieces. God has made me hole, putting my shattered pieces back together, held by a bond of love so strong!

    This is a great post. I am so thankful that God takes the broken and makes them whole. Sometime we go through life not even aware we are broken until an event occurs that makes it painfully obvious, but thankfully HE is there to not only pick up the pieces but to put them back together again.

    He does His greatest work when we – broken – allow Him into that place!

    Really beautiful and honest!
