Writing IS Talking

by Jacque Watkins

If you would have ever told me I would choose to write, voluntarily, I would not have believed you.

I’m a biology graduate, a registered nurse, always a lover of math and science…thrilled by predictability, calculation, and the scientific process. I never did enjoy English or Literature classes. In fact, I celebrated the day my last college English class ended…and I was so glad to walk the graduation line, hopeful that my writing torture was over.

Yet, I love words and conversation, and I love people and relationships.

And so now, here I am. In this obscure little space on the world-wide web, endeavoring…and really desiring…to write.

{This. IS. Crazy.}

Yet really, writing and talking are both forms of communicating. And even though writing IS harder than talking, through writing I WILL be talking to YOU…via words…on this screen…in this place.

And somehow I’m realizing it is not the writing that I disliked, it was having to write about something that didn’t matter to me…

And so, I hope this to be a place where we can talk together. A place where I can share with you my heart…and I can hear from yours…

A place where you, too, find glimpses of mercy, and feel winds of grace, and that we may together, press in to Him who is before ALL things, and rest IN Him who holds ALL things together…

And I’d be so honored and privileged if you’d join me every now and again. I’ll be here writing and talking…
